I had a couple of sessions to improve my interview skills with Elizabeth and these were enough for me to secure a highly competitive spot in specialty training. I would highly recommend her help if someone is looking to improve their interview skills.

Hi Rupi, it was a pleasure to work together. Thanks for taking the time to have the Zoom call with me to discuss your interview. It makes our job as coaches worthwhile when we can quickly change the way a client approaches a senior interview and get the success they want first time. You needed to trust yourself to answer the questions directly using your excellent skills and experience and move away from over prepared answers. Enjoy the new challenge. All the best Elizabeth

From my one session with Matt, I was equipped with the essential tools to work on my examples and hone in on the information required at a higher level. I have no compunction in recommending this organisation to anyone who is trying to get a role with the Civil Service. The recruitment process for the CS is notoriously tricky and unless you already have inside experience, it can be really hard to present yourself in the best light. I did 3 sessions with Matt who helped me understand what the interviewers were looking for and what I needed to include in my examples. I didn’t get my next interview, or the one after that, but having focused really hard on implementing the learning, I have now got a role that I’m really happy with. It is also just good basic training for any competency based interview. It would be great for students in policy programmes to get this type of training as part of their course to complement their technical knowledge.

Thank you Ruth, as you point out, there is a specific format to CS applications and interviews – all for good reason, and by investing time in crafting relevant and recent examples followed by practice it is very possible to secure the best role. I very much enjoyed working with you and by maintaining a positive approach and investing the necessary time you have secured a great role – one which I know you are well suited to and where you will enjoy no little success. I was on the lookout for a new job and after a number of interviews where I felt I could do better I signed up for 2 coaching sessions with Matt. Pretty much from the outset we identified areas where I could project myself more effectively. I took our discussion on board and began to practice on my delivery. A short while later I have secured a new role which is at least 3 levels above where I was originally pitching myself at which without Matt’s help would’ve taken a good few years to reach. I wholeheartedly recommend Matt’s coaching to anyone looking to sharpen their interview technique, it could just be the best investment you have made.

I had recently left teaching and was deciding to apply for civil service roles. Prior to contacting interview skills clinic, I had 3 unsuccessful interviews with the civil service, scoring mainly 2s and 3s on my competencies. I had another upcoming interview and decided to contact interview skills clinic as I wanted to know how I could improve in interviews. After emailing the job spec over and having an initial chat, I worked with Chista. Chista talked me through the job role, what they are expecting at that level and then did a mock interview with me and gave me areas to improve on over the weekend. We then had another interview and Chista said she could see the difference between my two sessions. She was brilliant to work with and really got me to think about my answers and emphasise what it is I was doing and not to presume the interviewers had any background or context.

As a result of Chista’s hard work, I secured a role within the civil service, which I probably wouldn’t have done had I kept using my same, short examples.

Thank you Chista for your hard work. I would recommend interview skills clinic for anyone in a similar position!

Having good work examples to base civil service behaviours on is only half the battle. Knowing how to frame, structure and phrase them is the other half. This is where Matthew helped a great deal. He listened to my examples and helped to improve their narrative, making each behaviour a story with its own challenges, actions and outcomes. I was successful in my interviews, having previously been unsuccessful, which perhaps says it all.

Thank you also to Chista for kindly stepping in at such short notice to provide a mock interview.

    Many thanks to you both!

Not all hero’s wear capes! Matt was a huge reason I had two very successful and enjoyable interviews for roles within the CS. That was all down to the prep I did with Matt. Matt helped me gain confidence in my interview examples and really brought them alive. He helped me understand what the CS roles were looking for and how to speak to them using the CS framework and behaviours. Matt is very experienced, confident and really relaxed, so it feels easy and comfortable to work with him. Especially when preparing for something so personal. I contacted the Interview Skills Clinic after being unsuccessful at 5 consecutive interviews. Rebecca moved really swiftly getting me in touch with Elizabeth knowing I had one day before my next interview. Elizabeth is amazing! She is so honest, and really knows her stuff. She really explains where improvements are needed and how to make these small but so important changes. I felt different I. My interview the following day and included all the changes that Elizabeth pointed out. I actually got the job the very next day! Will definitely come back before going for the next role!

Highly recommended. I used the Interview Skills Clinic after failing to get through a succession of Scottish Government and UK civil service interviews, and it worked!

My coach, Elizabeth, is familiar with Civil Service and Scottish Government interview processes. She helped me to think critically about how competency-based interviewing works and to anticipate what questions might come up. She also worked with me to prepare a selection of answers, which she then honed through a mock interview. She was robust in her feedback and advice, which meant I really dealt with my weak areas and developed better answers that brought out my strengths.

I was then successful in the very next interview I attended – thanks in large part to Elizabeth’s advice.

I had two interview prep sessions with Matthew Eastlake who was very supportive. The coaching given is second to none, and really focuses your mind on the specifics of adapting your examples to the specific factors required for the job and what criteria need to be outlined in your examples during the interview. They were very honest about were you needed to improve, and gave you clear and constructive direction on how to do that. It was also really helpful to have the follow-up sessions and review how your interview techniques were developing, and where you could tweak your answers. After a string of unsuccessful interviews severely knocking my confidence, I sought help from the Interview Skills Clinic. I had 3 sessions in total with Chista and she was absolutely amazing! The first session was general interview skills practice and Chista gave me so much useful advice, which I could then go away and work on. The other 2 sessions were tailored specifically for interviews I had coming up. Chista took the time to carefully go through the job specs and make the practice interviews relevant to those specific roles. This allowed me to prepare answers to questions which I had not previously thought of, some of which came up in the interviews!

Chista was extremely encouraging throughout, which allowed me to build my confidence back up. She sent me good luck messages in the morning of my interviews, which I thought was very thoughtful, and she was always available to answer any last minute questions I had.

After the sessions with Chista, I actually ended up being offered 2 out of 3 jobs that I had interviews for, so I couldn’t recommend her enough. Thanks a lot Chista!

As far as I am concerned Matt was the defining factor in getting my civil service role. I had been applying for Civil service jobs for around six months and had four failed interviews and was almost at a loss as to how to get over the line. Then the interview skills clinic was recommended by a friend and I was put in touch with Matt. Matt was highly professional and motivating. I was immediately given worksheets which helped organise and brought out extra details for my behaviours. Then I had a first session with Matt where he gave me key advice at how to bring the most out of my behaviour answers and presentation. He had an uncanny ability to bring out the things I wanted to say! I then went back and worked on the advice given before we had our final session which was more of a practice interview where we were able to fine tune my answers and ensure I was fully prepared for my upcoming interviews. Matt was very personable and helped give me the skills and confidence to display in my interview. However, I understand it is a results business and following my sessions with Matt, I was delighted that I passed both my interviews for HEO policy roles, being placed on the reserve list for one and receiving an offer for the other which I duly accepted. Thank you so much Matt!!! I would gladly recommend him to anyone looking to get their dream civil service job!

I am so pleased that through our work you managed to ‘crack the code’ of how to approach civil service interviews and give of your best. You had been successful at securing interviews so we knew you could already demonstrate what you were looking for, but it was by focusing on your delivery, expanding your examples to be strong verbal answers, continually linking back to reinforce why you had the skills, knowledge and experience for the role that enabled you to score highly. I sought Elizabeth’s help when I was applying for a public appointment. Having always been employed in the private sector it felt somewhat out of my comfort zone, and due to being in my role for some time, I hadn’t actually had an interview for years and was feeling nervous! Elizabeth was so helpful and talked me through all of the areas I could be challenged on in a mock interview. She then provided feedback and tips for improvement. I cannot recommend her enough and I will not hesitate to approach her again should I need further help in the future.

As an MSc graduate trying to get into a competitive, COVID-affected job market, I turned to interview coaching after an unsuccessful interview. Elizabeth was lovely, very helpful, supportive and personable throughout the process, and gave me tons of useful feedback. More than that, the fact that you get recordings of the interview sessions to watch back is priceless as it really helps you gain insight into how you’re coming across during interview settings. After two coaching sessions I attended a single interview and secured a job offer for the role I wanted. Interviewing is an alien process to most, so I would recommend coaching to anyone going through the process, especially for the first time – it saves you learning from your mistakes the hard way and missing hard-won opportunities. Undoubtedly, Elizabeth gave me the tools to come across well during interview and to sell my skillset and experience to the IV panel. I’m sure my job search would have been much longer without her!

I had a couple of really amazing, to the point and productive interview preparation sessions with Matthew for the civil service jobs interviews. The result is 7 interviews, 4 offers, 3 jobs in reserve lists after passing all of the interviews, this speaks for itself. Looking at the scores and feedback, I would have fallen slightly short in civil service interviews despite being good at interviewing for “regular” jobs. The information from the sessions also helped me to polish my CV, personal statements and behaviours explanations. I ended up landing the position that I didn’t expect to get, basically a dream job. Through a recommendation, I turned to the Interview Skills Clinic for help in my job application and interview. Before embarking on my sessions with Matt, the question did briefly cross my mind as to whether any value could be added to improve my application, especially when the cost of sessions is taken into consideration. However, any modicum of doubt was very quickly dispelled with the great work he did on re-vamping my personal statement, which helped to secure my interview. As for the interview preparation, Matt did not sugar coat any of the feedback; it was all very constructive, efficient and placed me in a position where I was able to come to the interview with an enhanced confidence to successfully convey my suitability for the role to the interview panel. As a result, I received excellent feedback from the panel and the highest scores for my behaviour and strength examples. All this would not have been achieved without his work, support and advice. Elizabeth advised me while I was preparing a competency-based application for promotion to G6 in the Civil Service. This followed a long, frustrating and confidence-sapping period of unsuccessful applications where I failed to gain any interviews. I knew I was performing at the right level, but was struggling with understanding how to present this in applications as I was receiving minimal feedback.

I had several sessions with Elizabeth on my written competency examples for a specific job and she was just great to work with. She has real expertise and in-depth understanding of how the recruitment process works and how to bring out the best in an application: her feedback and advice were genuinely insightful and made an enormous difference to my application. She was also brilliantly flexible, squeezing me in at short notice over a holiday period. In the end I scored highly on all my examples and was shortlisted for interview. I then did well enough at interview to be placed on a reserve list, from which I have just been substantively appointed to G6.

I feel really fortunate to have found and worked with Elizabeth – I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say I don’t think I would have had such a good result without her, and I very much hope I can work again with her when I am looking to make my next professional move. For anyone reading this who is wavering a bit on whether to go ahead with coaching, I would thoroughly recommend it, especially for Civil Service jobs – it’s a very worthwhile investment.

The coaching was thorough and the coach, Matthew, thoroughly broke down the answers I gave. He highlighted what aspects I needed to emphasise when delivering an anecdote, including how I achieved an aim and what I learnt rather than just what I did. He also prepared a prospective list of questions I could be asked to practise over, while also sending over a recording of both sessions to play back before the interview. The experience was really insightful in my interview performance, and Matthew’s detailed analysis and delivering constructive feedback and significantly improved my performance in an interview process I have historically struggled with. I applied for a programme manager role within the Public Service. I knew I had the required skills and experience, but without Matthew’s professional help I’d never be able to get that across during the selection process. Matthew’s guidance was invaluable in understanding the requirements of the selection process and in presenting my prior experience in the right way. He was very knowledgeable and encouraging. The coaching I received was extremely useful, well targeted to the role I applied for, professional, efficient and most of all effective. I had passed the initial selection, and after further interview coaching, ultimately got the job. It was certainly money well spent and the whole process gave me a good insight into the application and selection process, which I am sure, I can also use in the future.

I had two sessions with Elizabeth a week apart and I can honestly say that it was the difference to me getting the G7 government job I applied for. Elizabeth made great use of the time we had together and gave me tailored feedback in a friendly, direct and supportive manner that helped me to truly engage with the behaviour and strengths questions. Elizabeth helped me to show my skills and experience off in the best light and demonstrate the added value I could bring to the role. My interview feedback was very positive and specifically mentioned how my interview performance demonstrated how i met the criteria for the job better than my written statement (n.b. i did not receive any coaching for the written statement!). If anyone is hesitating about the cost for coaching i would advise you to go for it as the coaching i have received has not only been an investment in my career but an investment in my personal development and i will definitely be using the service again when i am ready to move on to the next stage of my career!.

I cannot recommend Elizabeth enough! I’ve had sessions with her for two different civil service jobs (HEO and SEO) and was successful both times. Elizabeth’s approach to answering behavioural questions made all of the difference I think – I was equipped with a new way of answering these difficult questions, and the feedback from the interviewer was that my responses were perfectly structured. Elizabeth also gave excellent feedback, and sent a lovely message of encouragement the morning of my interview! 100 per cent cannot recommend enough, and I’ll definitely be speaking to Elizabeth again when the need to apply for a future role arises.

I was introduced to this service by a friend after several interviews at senior level ended with “you were great but…” I had three sessions with Elizabeth, who is absolutely amazing. She is kind but very direct and truthful about how you come across. With her encouragement, I began to see areas where I needed improvement and we worked on my self confidence as well as how I presented myself to potential interview panels. My sessions were recorded so I could go over them and note areas needing more work. I got the job I interviewed following my sessions and couldn’t be happier. I strongly recommend this service

I was out of practice and and had not been in a competency based interview for some time. I sent Elizabeth the job spec and she then helped me to draw out my experiences in a way that was tailored to the specific role. She re-built my confidence through mock interviews and with her support I was able to succeed and get the job. Matt provided me a Strength Based Question coaching session less than 24hrs before an interview.

His focus on the style in which I responded to these time bound questions and their content was insightful. I had never undergone a Success Profile interview and without Matt’s experience and knowledge of this style of interviews I would have been at a complete disadvantage going in to the interview, given that other preparations I had arranged with another person had been cancelled at the last minute.

Following Matt’s advice on presentation and content, I was able to enter the interview confident in my ability to answer these questions in a way in which enabled me to engage with the interviewers and score high marks. All of which resulted in my success at a Civil Service Grade 7 board.

I have never had to write a CV, other than my University personal statement. I was put in contact with Matthew, submitted my CV and I had it returned to me the next day. He made some very useful amendments, explaining the changes he had made. He also offered to discuss any aspect of it with me.
It was extremely helpful and I wouldn’t hesitate to contact him for advice in the future.

Matthew and Elizabeth were both fantastic in helping me with a recent job application and interview preparation for a civil service role.

Matthew is expert at what he does and provided invaluable advice on what to include in my personal statement. Over two Skype sessions he helped me identify and highlight the skills and experience relevant to the role I was seeking and advised me on preparing my application. He is very knowledgable and clearly has a wealth of experience which he shares as he provides constructive feedback. I learnt a lot from Matthew and this undoubtedly helped me secure an interview for a role I really wanted.

I struggle with interview anxiety and have now worked with Elizabeth on two occasions to help me prepare for important interviews. Elizabeth is patient and understanding and she really ‘gets’ how it is for nervous candidates, quickly putting me at ease. On this most recent occasion she helped me understand again what to get across during an interview and suggested strategies to help me deal with the anxiety which really did work. I am pleased to say I was offered the promotion in to a role I’m really excited about and I am indebted to both Elizabeth and Matthew for their help and support.

Matthew’s help was invaluable in preparing me for a job interview in a senior role. As I had no previous experience of being interviewed for a position at this level, I was feeling anxious about the whole process and not at all confident as I had very little time to prepare. Matthew was brilliant from the outset and very professional. We emailed and spoke over the phone prior to the session so he knew about me and why I needed some assistance, the details of the job I had applied for and also my work history. He reassurred me that he would be able to help and could see me at short notice. Matthew has a wonderfully warm manner which puts you at ease straight away and is extremely knowledgable, he went through my C.V. in detail and really understands your skill set regardless of which area or industry you work in. He had prepared a variety of question areas specifically for the type of role I had applied for which helped me frame my skills and experience in the right way. I left the session just feeling much more positive, a couple of days later the interview went and I was so happy to be offered the job. I can highly recommend Matthew to anyone seeking to improve their interview skills, I received really good feedback from the interview, the difference after just one session was amazing! Thank you Matthew for helping me achieve my goals, I will definitely be booking another appointment in the future.

Matthew began working with me at the start of June 2019 after graduating from University having applyed for many roles and never getting further than the first stage. As a result of his help, he gave me the skills, knowledge and confidence to apply for roles with a strong application. I was able to secure a job within a few months of working with Matthew. He was actively involved in my applications and the different stages of application. Overall very personable and enjoyable to work with. Importantly, Matthew explained to me the process of how employers decide to take candidates forward to an interview and what influences are important for the final appointment, something I found extremely useful when reading feedback from unsuccessful applications as I was able to understand the overall process better. Matthew is a friendly person who is enthusiastic about working with people and learning more about areas of work/interest beyond just reading cover letters or CVs. He actively helped with job searches and is invested in your success. This ongoing engagement with my interests/applications in politics and marketing in Scotland was a unique quality that I struggled to find with other advisors before. Overall he was very prepared and professional and was really enjoyable to work with and will be of great help to anyone struggling and demotivated by the job hunt process.

I had coaching sessions with both Elizabeth and Matthew and can’t thank them enough for all the valuable help they provided.
I’d been looking to progress to the next grade in the Civil Service and had been to a number of interviews but had failed to be successful. I therefore contacted Interview Skills Clinic and spoke to Elizabeth. As soon as I explained my problem, Elizabeth picked up on where I might be going wrong and set out what interviewers we’re looking for at that grade.
I had two 90 minute coaching sessions; one with Elizabeth and one with Matthew and they were both brilliant. Both provided effective but easy to follow advice and guidance on how I could develop my scenarios to sell myself more and match what was being looked for at that particular grade. They also gave useful tips on how I could present myself well at interview, deal with awkward questions and handle the “strength” based questions that now form part of the interviews. All this was done in a friendly and supportive environment.

I had an interview shortly after my coaching sessions and by applying what I’d learned from Elizabeth and Matthew I was successful. I’m so pleased that I used Interview Skills Clinic and would definitely recommend Elizabeth and Matthew.

Well, I was in an NHS administration position for last five and half years and desperately wanted to move on to the next band within NHS. I attended around 10 or more interviews without success. Then I contacted Interview Skills and Elizabeth took my case. I provided her with the stories I was using in the interviews. Elizabeth taught me to say the same stories in very effective way. That really helped me to restructure my answers and gave me wider view for an interview.
After the session with Elizabeth, I had few more interviews and got really positive feedback. Then the day came for a right one and I nailed it. I am much happier that I consulted Interview Skills. I recommend a 90 minute session and provide with some material before hand to the consultant. Also tell them about the feedback you have been receiving from your past interviews. That will help consultant to find out the problem areas in your interview techniques.

When I found out recruitment had started for the job of my dreams but the person interviewing would have had the (dis)pleasure of interviewing me previously. With no offer made and poor feedback on interview style, I knew I had to do something different this time. A google search led me to find Elizabeth and I booked a 90 minute session in London.

I had a fair amount of doubt that 90 minutes would help change my style but went along with an open mind. Elizabeth took me through some initial questions, gave me feedback on body language, content, structure and then guided me through questions again. My nerves were high – similar reaction to normal interviews – but I felt supported throughout.

I came away with a completely fresh awareness of what the interviewers would be looking for, how to structure responses and how to be aware of my eye contact / body movement (not as simple as I had thought to control during stressful situations)

I secured the job, had great feedback from the panel – particularly the person who had interviewed me before “like a different person” and now looking forward to starting my new role. It is without any doubts that I secured this thanks to Elizabeth’s guidance and feedback. I am incredibly grateful and would recommend anyone to invest in their development and career with the coaching Elizabeth and the team offer. Thank you!

Thanks to Matthew I got a job offer I wanted.

Before my scheduled Skype call with Matthew, I’ve had a poor run with recent interviews, and wanted the coaching but was not sure which coach to choose – many coaches have good reviews on the internet but I didn’t know which one would work for me personally. I work in a very technical positions in a relatively obscure field. In our training session, I have found Matthew’s comments extremely relevant, and aced the next interview.

I’m glad I went with Matthew. I was immediately impressed with his composure, taking charge of the conversation and keeping the process interesting and relevant. I also noticed very good preparation on Matthew’s part. He has learned the key bits about my work and some of the professional lingo specifically for our conversation, so he made the environment feel much closer to the “real thing”.

He readily answered any of my “of the cuff” questions about interviewing process which showed me he is a real interviewing expert.

He used an extremely useful feedback model where he would ask a question and then immediately after my answer, he would give very useful points on where I did well or could improve.

Overall, I am very impressed with his work. Thanks to his tips I have gained the confidence to ace my interview and got a job offer. I will surely recommend Matthew to any of my friends.

I applied for a senior leadership role, but due to my professional background had very little experience of competency based interviews. There was a lot of work to be done in the two sessions I had with Elizabeth – really starting from first principles.

And as as I travelled home from the interview, reflecting on all the things I had been asked and had said, it occurred to me that those two sessions with Elizabeth might just have made the difference between success and failure. And this was confirmed to me when I was later offered the role.

I suspect she has something valuable to offer candidates at all levels. It is certainly worth giving her a call. It might make the difference for you too.

Elizabeth firstly supported me to write competency examples in a clearer and more succinct way through a Skype session and regular e-mail follow up. Once I had mastered this, I got through the sift on the next attempt. We then moved forward with 2 interview coaching sessions to help build my confidence in presenting my examples and tailoring them to different questions. I did well enough in the interview to be placed on the reserve list. I really enjoyed working with Elizabeth and would highly recommend her to others in a similar situation. I looked Elizabeth up after being unsuccessful with many applications for promotion. I had attended a few interviews but found my main problem to be not hitting the mark in the competency sifts.

I was becoming quite frustrated knowing I had plenty of work experiences at the required level which wasn’t leading to interviews. Elizabeth spent time going through my applications and explained where I was falling down, and what I needed to do sell myself effectively and concisely.

Following some important feedback sessions, and feeling like something had finally clicked, I was invited to interview on my first application. I was able to give a confident interview using my deeper understanding of what was required by the competency framework – a first in a long time! I highly recommend Elizabeth to anyone experiencing similar issues.

After many unsuccessful interviews with feedback that was either “you gave a good interview, but we hired someone with more practical experience”, or “we liked you, but we gave the job to someone who gave more rounded answers”, I decided to get some professional help. Elizabeth was very welcoming and immediately helped me feel at ease. We discussed in detail the posts I hoped to apply for and also my background. My main problems were not selling myself, and also not giving enough depth to my answers. We practiced a few questions that were guaranteed to come up in my interviews. Elizabeth also gave me advice on how to structure my answers and also sell my abilities and past experiences without making me uncomfortable. I was planning on meeting up with Elizabeth for another session, but attended an interview at short notice. I immediately felt more confident and in control while answering the questions, and for the first time actually enjoying the interview. I was offered the job later that same day, and like one of the other reviewers’ mentioned they told me that I was a standout candidate. I am very grateful for Elizabeth’s advice, guidance and encouragement at a time when I felt doubtful about being able to get the job I wanted.

I contacted Elizabeth for help with crippling interview nerves. I’d worked in senior positions in an international company for over 12 years, and wanted to change sector. My anxiety was so great that in my first session with Elizabeth I actually had a panic attack. Mortifying! I was quite certain that neither she – nor anyone else – would ever be able to get me past something which was a huge point of embarrassment for me. I felt quite desperate, having resigned from a successful career to allow myself space to decide on what I wanted to do next. Imagine the pressure on me when I then found myself fluffing even informal chats on the phone with potential interviewers through crippling nerves. To compound this, not a single person I knew would believe that ‘someone like me’ would ever have interview issues, as I’m a strong communicator. But I really, really did. Elizabeth tackled this sensitively, practically and ultimately successfully. She helped me to approach interviews in a completely different way, finding a new mind-set, and I secured the first role I applied for in my new sector a couple of months ago. This took several sessions, but were genuinely one of the best investments in my personal development that I have made. I’m eternally grateful. Thank you Elizabeth!

I had been called to my first civil service job interview in 10 years. I was applying for promotion. In my 90-minute Skype session Elizabeth showed me how to attend to all aspects of the competencies on which I would be questioned and how to provide much more detailed answers. She also helped me see the importance of being able to verbally sum up my achievements for each of my competency examples. I was successful in my application. I could not have done it without Elizabeth’s help.

Elizabeth’s assistance was incredibly valuable in my experience of applying for a training contract. I have a history of being able to make it to interviews on my paper applications but then not being able to make it past first (or sometimes second) interview. Elizabeth was great, listened to what I had to say and then fed back that I was not selling myself in the right way. Left me with plenty to think about. With Elizabeth’s assistance I was able to secure a training contract in my first interview this year! Thank you so much.

Hi Amy, I eventually managed to get your review on the website, thank you. Getting a training contact is notoriously challenging. Whilst working as a paralegal gave you great legal experience, you needed a little help to promote yourself and your skills as a lawyer, not as a paralegal. This tweak in thinking made all the difference. I am sure you’ll make a great lawyer.

I had been to several interviews and had no luck with securing a full time role I was really interested in. With my confidence low I decided to seek help in the form of a 90 minute Skype session with Elizabeth. It was fantastic. Elizabeth not only provided me with very helpful preparation materials but she got me to understand what the interviewer would be looking for and how best to address questions. Going into detail on how different types of questions could be answered and giving examples which I could base my own experiences off. A week later I went into my next interview full of confidence and now can happily say I was offered the job. Without a doubt the new perspective and level detail Elizabeth provided me played a major role in the success of the interview.

I sought Elizabeth’s assistance with a recent civil service interview through a 90 minute Skype preparation session. Elizabeth’s assistance and coaching was invaluable in successfully securing my new role. She was able to explain what the competencies were and meant in practical terms, what the interviewers were looking for in my answers and how it was marked. Elizabeth was also able to provide me with feedback as to the quality of the examples I was using in my application to maximise my opportunity to be successful at interview. From the material I sent to her, she noted that I had a wealth of relevant experience and expertise in terms of the role and the competencies listed for it. She quickly identified in the session that in interview, I needed to ensure I outlined more thoroughly my thought processes in terms of the automatic actions I took as an experienced professional. She provided feedback on my practice answers and really helped to build my confidence. I was able to ask questions and clarify issues on which I was unclear. I would have no hesitation in recommending Elizabeth to anyone seeking to prepare for an interview. I cannot thank her enough.

I was fortunate enough to be able to have a 90 minute Skype preparation session with Elizabeth before a recent Civil Service interview. It was absolutely fantastic, tremendous value for money and certainly a major factor in subsequently being successful at interview. Very helpful prep materials were sent in advance of the Skype session. However what really stood out was how Elizabeth completely altered the session around 15 minutes in when it was clear I was losing confidence. A key piece of advice she offered at this point totally changed my approach; I credit this as also being the key reason for passing the interview, too. I have subsequently recommended Elizabeth to two other Civil Service applicants, one who has also been successful directly after a prep session and another who will take their interview in the next few weeks. This is as good as professional coaching for interviews can be and I would recommend it to anyone at any level

Amazing, Incredible, Fantastic – my 3 word summary of the experience I had with Elizabeth. In my early 50’s – and feeling like Employer’s would think I was ‘past it’ … I quickly learn’t I was holding myself back. In fact learning to summarise my 20 years experience by telling ‘relevant and compelling stories’ unlocked my potential and freed my brain. It was ‘that simple.’ I took a week to prepare using my new found learning, and In my next Interview the Interviewer was quickly nodding in agreement as I told him about my 20 years of relevant experience – I got the Job and I sailed through my first month’s probationary period. So if you are thinking about gaining some learning and new insights on Interviews I would say ‘Do It’ and ‘Enjoy It’

Elizabeth taught me how to apply the Star technique at interview. I was much more confident than I usually am at my interview, and so better prepared. The company called me the next morning and offered me the job. Thank you so much Elizabeth. Elizabeth provided valuable feedback to help improve my performance, and she also recognises that a big part of interviewing is about having the right mindset – her moral support between sessions was greatly appreciated. I had a final coaching session before an intense final stage interview, and Elizabeth did a great job of preparing me for a different pace and style of questioning than I’d encountered before. I decided to organise some face-to-face interview coaching with Elizabeth a few months ago while I was applying to a range of graduate roles. While I knew I was a strong candidate on paper, I wasn’t confident I would do well in an interview, and was really struggling to form some good examples for strengths etc. During the two sessions I had with Elizabeth I learnt a lot about what interviewers are actually looking for, and developed a much clearer understanding of which of my strengths I should be selling to recruiters and how best to back them up with the examples I had.
We did a mock interview session which was videoed, and I found being able to look back at this incredibly useful for re-listening to the turns-of-phrase and tips that Elizabeth gave me during the session that I would have otherwise forgotten! Overall, the sessions hugely increased my confidence to be able to walk into an interview and sell myself, and definitely made the graduate application process less stressful. I’m starting a new job on Monday at a big media firm and can confidently say that Elizabeth contributed a lot to me getting that job! So thank you very much, Elizabeth!

I sought Elizabeth’s help after repeatedly hitting a brick wall with my job hunting. I rarely got offered an interview and never got a job offer. I work in the public sector and found competency based interviews to be a mystery. How do you apply the STAR technique without a) a photographic memory, and b) sounding like a scripted robot? Elizabeth not only answered these questions but also took a critical look at my CV. I found the videos of our mock interviews to be hard and uncomfortable viewing. However, they made it so much easier to see and hear where I was going wrong. I highly recommend getting videoed no matter how much it makes you cringe! Unlike interview books (and some coaches) that expect you to memorise ‘100 great answers’ Elizabeth takes a different and far more sensible approach. Elizabeth not only teaches you what makes a great answer and how to formulate it easily, but also emphasises the importance of tone, body language and enthusiasm in your interview. Following our coaching session I went to my next interview a few days later feeling far better prepared and more relaxed. I was not only offered the job but also offered a salary higher than that advertised – without negotiation. I have seen a few interview coaches now – the only one I’ll be going back to is Elizabeth.

Two days ago I had my first interview and it went really well. I was myself and managed to answer the questions in the structure that you recommended with the same feeling of confidence I would have with a family member. The best part is, at no point in the interview did I get close to crying! Whether I get the job or not, now I know I can go to interviews feeling myself and without fear of making a complete fool of myself. I will be recommending you very highly to others in the future.

I recently sought Elizabeth’s help when applying for Civil Service roles on promotion. After having three interviews and not getting anywhere I decided to have a Skype coaching session a week before my next interview. One session with Elizabeth completely changed the way I delivered my competency examples in the interview. Elizabeth’s advice was hugely helpful on what was important and how to get across for a senior level position within the Civil Service. The following interview I was successful in getting the promotion. It was definitely worth the investment and I will use Elizabeth’s coaching session next time I’m looking for a promotion. Thank you again Elizabeth.

Elizabeth’s coaching made all the difference to me. I struggled with several interviews, coming out feeling I had underrepresented myself and losing confidence every time. Elizabeth showed me how to present what I thought of as weaknesses as strengths, and to break down and explain my experience and how it was relevant to the role. She also went through a lot of little tips around body language and tools to help me present myself better, which really helped me focus and gave me a lot of confidence. I actually had two interviews in one week, and in one I was progressed to round 2, while in the other I was offered the job. I am very grateful, and so pleased I chose her for coaching.

Elizabeth’s coaching was a great help in securing a role at a Big 4 accounting firm. She helped me improve my presentation and confidence. Particularly valuable was going through lots of practice questions and preparing for all types of question that could come up at an interview. It made me feel much more confident going into the interview and knowing that I could deal with pretty much any question thrown at me. I highly recommend Elizabeth’s coaching for anyone who’s not had much recent interview experience and needs to improve confidence.

After resigning from a job in difficult circumstances, I got lots of interviews, but no offer. My anxiety and worry about being perceived as unreliable probably showed in the interviews and held me back. I saw Elizabeth hoping to understand what I was doing wrong and found the session extremely helpful. I was offered a job after the next interview. Elizabeth’s advice made all the difference to my preparation and self-perception. I recommended her to my partner, who was also offered the next job she interviewed for after seeing Elizabeth, having also had several interviews before with no offer! I would definitely recommend Elizabeth’s services, which have made a huge difference to us.

A friend recommended that I booked a session with Elizabeth after having no luck in the job applications that I was sending off. I am so glad that I followed that recommendation because Elizabeth’s advice and guidance has proved invaluable. Elizabeth took the time to thoroughly analyse my applications and pointed out areas that could be improved and offered simple, but effective, tips on how to strengthen my applications – things that I wouldn’t have known to do without her guidance. She was also extremely efficient and responded to emails and phone-calls promptly, and even managed to arrange a Skype session with me on short-notice so that I could prepare for my first interview. Having recently accepted an offer for a new job, I do think that Elizabeth was instrumental in helping me secure this. She helped to make my applications stronger, offered excellent advice prior to interviews, and even conducted a mock interview for me, which helped me to prepare for interviews. After working with Elizabeth, I also feel a lot more confident in my capabilities. I would definitely recommend Elizabeth to anyone that needs interview/application guidance.

I fully recommend Elizabeth’s interview coaching. She gave me lots of advice and tips on how to structure my examples for an internal competency based interview. Practicing the questions in a mock interview also greatly decreased my anxiety on the day of the interview. I got the role and the feedback I received from the interview was that my answers were very good. I know my answers wouldn’t have been as strong if Elizabeth hadn’t shown me how to develop them to fit the role in question. It was well worth the investment and I now have a better understanding of how to prepare for future interviews.

Elizabeth’s support and guidance proved utterly invaluable for my video interview with the Civil Service. She advised me on how to structure my answers accordingly and gave me a detailed insight into what they’re looking for in their candidates. The price was initially quite daunting, but if you’re taking an application seriously and want to gain the appropriate professional skills, then I consider Elizabeth’s approach to be vital in achieving that step-up. The advice was wholly implementable, and I honestly couldn’t see myself passing the video interview without it. Also, having the conversation recorded was a great bonus that allowed me to experience the lesson several times over and hone in on the advice. I got a better understanding of a STAR technique and learnt how to apply it effectively. After asking each of the interview questions, Elizabeth gave me a constructive feedback and valuable tips how to improve my answers. After that, I repeated answers implementing her suggestions. We also went through the presentation that I had to deliver during the interview process and again Elizabeth suggestions were priceless! As a result of our session and following the suggestions, I had a very successful interview and was offered a position 24 hours after the interview!!!! I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Elizabeth for her interview coaching without which I would not have been able to succeed in my quest to move to a regulatory healthcare inspector role. I had completed interviews previously but failed to meet the grade. I had two sessions via Skype with Elizabeth where she conducted a mock interview using competency based questions which are common in the public sector. During these sessions, Elizabeth gave me constructive feedback as to how I could improve my answers and then made me repeat my answers using this feedback. This style of coaching really helped me to improve my interview technique and thus sell myself during the real interview. After my first session in late March, I attended an assessment centre which I duly passed. However, the vacancies were located in the North-West where I did not reside and thus I wasn’t offered the inspector post. At the end of July, I was invited to another assessment centre for a hospital inspector position. Thus, a few days prior to my interview I held an interview coaching session with Elizabeth where she gave me constructive feedback and made me practice my answers where I was not selling myself strongly. As a result of this coaching session, I performed really well at my assessment centre and was recently informed that I had passed and thus was offered the position of hospital inspector which I will commence in a few week’s time. I would thoroughly recommend Elizabeth to anyone who has been struggling to pass interviews. Elizabeth coaches candidates in a professional manner and provides helpful feedback upon which candidates can reflect upon and practice rewording their answers to questions during their coaching sessions. These sessions also helped to boost my self-confidence which was a real asset during the real interview.

I came across Elizabeth via a google search after I had been struggling for over 3 years with interviews. I read on her website that she specialised in coaching Civil Servants to be successful at making the next grade. I had an initial consultation with Elizabeth giving her an outline as to what I was looking for and she told me about herself and how she can help. She then told me her prices which initially I thought was a bit steep but based on her past experience I thought I’ll try it and if it doesn’t work out I’ll go elsewhere. So we had a few coaching sessions together whereby Elizabeth would give me mock interview practice and gave me the building blocks of how I can approach interviews I had in the future. We didn’t really change my stories but the way I told them. Within a few sessions I had an interview and I’m pleased that after using Elizabeth I was successful at securing a position at the next grade up to where I am now. I was pleasantly surprised because I had over 20 interviews and before coaching with Elizabeth I wasn’t really getting anywhere. I had tried other coaches and other methods but nothing seemed to work. Elizabeth is more expensive than other coaches but it was money well spent and if you are struggling like me and you really want to invest in yourself I would definitely recommend her. I didn’t have many sessions with Elizabeth and to be honest I kept thinking I will need more sessions. She gave me the re-assurance that I wouldn’t need that many but until it happened I didn’t quite believe it.

I will definitely be coming back in a few years time when I next want help with interviews/applications. I can’t thank Elizabeth enough in coaching me. I wouldn’t go to anyone else or try other methods now.

Elizabeth is a superb interview coach, who works hard to understand your needs and provide tailored support for each client. She successfully coached me for a senior-level policy role; and as a result of both her practical and tactical guidance, I was offered the role I was interviewed for! Elizabeth provided me with a real sense of confidence, asking tough but realistic questions to prepare me for the interview, and working closely with me to build effective competency-based answers. As a result of the session, I felt able to approach my interview with confidence, and to deliver taut, well-structured answers that did justice to my skill set and expertise. Elizabeth enabled me to overcome a lack of recent interview experience, and to consider and respond to questions in the most effective way. I have always been incredibly nervous at interviews and this has impacted on my performance. After a particularly disastrous experience, I decided to seek some professional help. It’s always hard to choose someone without a recommendation but as soon as I contacted Elizabeth I knew that she was right for me. I started off with a Skype session to help me improve my Civil Service competency based applications. Elizabeth is tremendously knowledgeable and packed the session with sound advice, all recorded to play back later. She has great insight and helped me understand my weaknesses and the areas to improve on my applications. Some time later, I followed up the initial session with a face to face appointment before an important interview. I’d had a couple of recent interviews and was still with struggling nerves. I was a wreck when I saw Elizabeth as even the thought of practising in front of her filled me with dread but she wasn’t fazed by this and explained it was just interview anxiety. She had some excellent strategies to help me cope and patiently coached me through my interview examples. Elizabeth highlighted my strengths and constructively pointed out areas that required further work, with suggestions on what was required. The session really boosted my confidence and helped me focus on selling myself at interview. It worked – I got the job! I cannot recommend Elizabeth highly enough. I always admire people who excel at their job and Elizabeth excels! Thank you so much.

I highly recommend Elizabeth Conley. Elizabeth’s advice, guidance & feedback has helped me greatly. I was made redundant in September last year, following this I struggled to tackle the interview selection process effectively, and so after a few rejections needed to do something about it! I saw a few similar types of interview skills services online but decided to use Elizabeth mainly based on the website and her virtually immediate response once I’d explained my situation in an e-mail. We met F2F in London, where she really helped me by understanding where I was going wrong both in terms of verbally and body language. Getting an understanding of how the interview process really works in 2017 was massively important and something that Elizabeth’s expertise really stands out! After one session I managed to get offered a position working for a growing financial company, which is the role i’d been looking for, after a 3 stage selection process; that I’m now due to start soon. In addition to this I was offered another role, after a 3 stage interview process, which I’m awaiting the outcome of at time of writing. Elizabeth stayed in touch even after our session by e-mail to ask how I was getting on, providing great encouragement and so I was so pleased to tell her about my success. Her help and support was key gave my confidence a real boost and I will be using her again. I would advise anyone who is in a similar position, or who need wants to enhance their existing technique, to get in touch with her as she has great knowledge, understanding and provides the client with with tools to deliver a winning interview.

We would highly recommend Elizabeth to anybody who is in the slightest lacking in self confidence and lacking experience when faced with the daunting prospect of a university interview.
Our daughter Natasha had only just over a week to prepare for three interviews for a place on a Veterinary Medicine course at Nottingham, RVC and Liverpool universities.
Having very little idea of the nature and content of these interviews (in some cases Multiple Mini Interview format) we sought the urgent help of Elizabeth.
In just three sessions, two face to face and one via Skype, she primed Natasha on what to expect and how to approach these interviews. Elizabeth covered every angle possible with regard to interview techniques. She focused on Natasha’s weaknesses and helped develop her strength further.
As a result Natasha’s confidence levels soared. She attended her interviews with a real sense of positivity and afterwards felt quietly confident that she had performed well. She has since been offered a place at both Nottingham and Liverpool universities and is still expecting a decision from the RVC.
Elizabeth’s role in Natasha’s successful interviews has been, without doubt, invaluable. She could not have done it without her.
Once again we would highly recommend Elizabeth’s expertise and insight to anyone applying to highly competitive courses such as Veterinary Medicine.

Elizabeth offered great insight into the process and what the employer would expected from my interview answers and perhaps most importantly into my weaknesses, with effective advice on how to address and correct them. The interview result was a positive one and I know I could not have done it without her guidance.
Her expertise and personal approach is excellent, and the option of using Skype for training sessions is a very helpful tool. I would have no hesitation in recommending Elizabeth and calling on her help and advice again myself, for future such events.

Hi Magnolia, thanks so much for adding a review on the website. The interview process for pilots are rigorous and lengthy, you did fantastically well and I am glad the hard work paid off. Skype coaching is very effective for those people like yourself who can’t meet in London.

Elizabeth provided me with very helpful and comprehensive guidance for preparing what must have been a rather unusual scenario for her: an interview for a job with the German government, held in German. Her guidance focussed on what to say/what answers and topics to prepare, how to practice answers and body language and how to manage nervousness. I’m delighted to say I got the job — many thanks Elizabeth!

Back in December 2015 I had been invited to an assessment centre for the final stage of the application process for a sponsored degree apprenticeship with CapGemini. I was feeling very unprepared, but managed to book a last minute Skype session with Elizabeth and despite her busy calendar, she went out of her way accommodate a session with me. Due to extenuating circumstances, I didn’t get the apprenticeship with CapGemini, so I decided to take a full year out and go travelling.

On my return to the UK, I was invited to an interview for another sponsored degree apprenticeship with Vodafone. I applied everything Elizabeth taught me when preparing for it, meaning I went into it a million times more confident than I would have done without the sessions. It went perfectly, and I was offered a place a few days later, and I’m now 4 months into the scheme.

Although there was a gap between my sessions with Elizabeth and my interview with Vodafone, I am certain that I wouldn’t have secured a place had I not undertaken her training. The sessions are adapted to suit you, thanks to her thorough preparation, meaning they are guaranteed to improve your interview technique. Not only that, everything I learnt was transferable, meaning I have been able to apply them to the workplace, allowing me to progress in my role.

Elizabeth’s training was exceptional. I had 2 interview skills sessions, the first revolving around preparation and how to structure my answers, and the second session built on these in a mock interview style session. The biggest difference for me after talking with Elizabeth is my confidence, the sessions themselves were adapted to meet my needs and to tackle the problems I was having in interviews, giving me more confidence in how I answered. 1 month on, I have a job offer with a small accountancy firm just outside of London. I couldn’t recommend Elizabeth enough and would urge anyone to get into contact.

Our daughter, Joanna, has university interviews coming up and she so dearly wanted to be offered a place at one particular university where the course is always significantly oversubscribed. It was a daunting prospect which was not made any easier because the first interview was at the university she wanted to go to. Quite understandably Joanna was very nervous. Our daughter had a Skype session with Elizabeth and soon afterwards they had a face-to-face session, both of which Elizabeth has thoroughly prepared for beforehand. She had carefully looked into the questions that might come up for the degree Joanna wishes to study for. After the 2 sessions Joanna was far more confident and much better prepared. Joanna attended the interview and afterwards her one word answer to how it went was “good!” We understood she might have to wait 1-2 weeks before the university contacted Joanna. We did not have to wait long – the university offered a place the day after the interview! So well done Joanna and thank you so much Elizabeth for your help. We strongly recommend Elizabeth to anyone else who would is considering coaching for university interviews.

Elizabeth’s coaching is first class! I have always struggled with interviews over the years and she made me think and look at things in a completely different way which I would never had imagined. The coaching was designed specifically for the role I was applying for, looking at all potential questions that could have been asked, allowing me to prepare for anything that was thrown at me. The coaching made all the difference giving me the edge I’ve been looking for and successfully securing a position with a major company in my chosen profession.

Hi Tom, moving to the graduate management programme was a challenge. It was a very different type of interview to what you were used to but the preparation paid off. I am delighted work is going well for you and I am happy to support you at the next promotion stage.

Elizabeth made very significant improvements to my interviewing, both in terms of the examples I used (and which aspects of those examples) and my interviewing technique. Throughout our sessions she was incredibly supportive and gave the type of frank advice which made the difference. She obviously has tremendous insight and expertise in the type of interview which I was preparing for – in my case, a senior civil service post – which she was able to pass on in a focussed and sensitive manner. At all times she was professional and a complete joy to work with. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I truly believe that Elizabeth made the difference in me getting the job. Thank you Elizabeth!

I had a combined session with Elizabeth covering competency interviews and a presentation task, following suffering from feelings of pressure, nerves and anxiety! Elizabeth equipped me with some key things to practice, which were instrumental in turning my feelings into confidence and being in control. I think it made all the difference as having just landed a great contract role, the feedback on what clinched it vs the other final candidate was my passion and enthusiasm for their brands and business. I would definitely work with Elizabeth again, just to ensure I’m at the top of my game before the next big interview.

I had two sessions with Elizabeth ahead of an interview for a senior civil service post and really benefited from her specific and constructive guidance. Elizabeth manages to be encouraging and sternly unequivocal at the same time, and tailors her advice well. Having ‘homework’ between sessions was very helpful in enabling much clearer preparation for the real-life situation of an interview. As well as being specifically useful interview preparation, I found the sessions very positive in promoting wider self-reflection on my own leadership style and areas for development.

Thanks Paul. I am glad I was able to help although I didn’t realise I was stern! I think I was quite tough with you because at Director level I knew you could do it. However, I’ll work on my softer side.

I applied for an HEO position at the Civil Service. I had no idea how to improve my scores but after the first telephone call with Elizabeth it was clear she knew the ins and outs of how the interviews are marked. We went through the competency questions and scenarios in detail, and at each stage she provided me with feedback and coached me so that I could draw upon my own experience and make the answers stronger. I was successful at interview at both roles that I applied fo
