Interview coaching reviews
I sought Elizabeth’s help after repeatedly hitting a brick wall with my job hunting. I rarely got offered an interview and never got a job offer. I work in the public sector and found competency-based interviews to be a mystery. How do you apply the STAR technique without a photographic memory, and without sounding like a scripted robot. Elizabeth not only answered these questions but also took a critical look at my CV. I found the videos of our mock interviews hard and uncomfortable viewing, but they made it much easier to see and hear where I was going wrong. I highly recommend getting videoed, no matter how much it makes you cringe. Unlike interview books, and some coaches, that expect you to memorise ‘100 great answers’, Elizabeth takes a different and far more sensible approach. She teaches you what makes a great answer and how to formulate it easily, while also emphasising tone, body language and enthusiasm. Following our coaching session I went to my next interview feeling far better prepared and more relaxed. I was not only offered the job, but also offered a salary higher than advertised — without negotiation. I have seen a few interview coaches now; the only one I’ll be going back to is Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is an excellent coach with clear and insightful understanding of employer needs and candidate skills. I thoroughly recommend the Skills Clinic to scaffold, structure and massively sharpen up interview technique and quality of response.
This will give you more confidence as well as understanding of yourself and your skills. As a result of coaching from Elizabeth for three different roles, I have been successful in portraying myself in the most authentic and optimal way possible, securing three promotions thanks to this input. Thank you Elizabeth!

Elizabeth’s advice was quite simply brilliant. She provided extremely valuable insight into the responsibilities of the role I was interviewing for and how I could better represent my skills. I would recommend coaching to anyone who struggles to represent themselves well during the interview process. I have had three sessions with her over the last three or four years and each one has helped me take a jump forward in my career. I just secured a senior role after giving an apparently top-scoring interview. Thank you Elizabeth.

Career position and application coaching reviews
I can’t recommend Elizabeth highly enough for job application and interview coaching. Elizabeth has not just helped me to get three or four new jobs or promotions over a five-year period — she helped me, over this time, to completely transform my professional identity from one based on technical knowledge to one focused on wider leadership and strategy, while still retaining and building on my technical expertise. As part of this process, she helped me to develop an interview-ready narrative about the soft skills I already had, but didn’t always know how to craft into a good response to interview question.

I had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth during a key stage in my career, and I can’t recommend her coaching highly enough. She created a supportive, insightful space where I could reflect honestly and gain clarity on my goals and direction. Elizabeth has a remarkable ability to identify blind spots and gently challenge unhelpful patterns, which helped me grow both professionally and personally. Her guidance played a big part in helping me secure my new role, and I’m incredibly grateful for her expertise and encouragement. If you’re looking for someone who listens, understands and empowers you to move forward with confidence, Elizabeth is the coach you want in your corne.

Elizabeth strikes a really good balance between frank feedback and positive encouragement. She really helped me focus on the strategic importance and personal impact of my interview stories, and to deliver them clearly and crisply. I got the job. Public sector head of communications.

Civil Service interview coaching reviews
Elizabeth was recommended by a colleague and it was an excellent recommendation. Elizabeth really knows her stuff. She obviously has a lot of experience in dealing with Civil Service interviews of a variety of types and at a range of grades. Her knowledge and experience meant that I immediately trusted her judgement. She took time to understand where I felt I had gaps, but supplemented this with practice interview questions. It was obvious from her feedback that she was able to identify areas for development that I had previously not considered, but which immediately rang true. Her approach meant that I felt I was getting genuine interview practice, but with “in the moment” feedback and discussion, which was invaluable and beautifully delivered. Elizabeth was hugely supportive both within and outside of the sessions, which was genuinely confidence building. In the event, I was unexpectedly successful in my application. I recognised from the positive feedback some of the areas that we had worked on, which was gratifying. I had measurable confirmation that seeking her advice had been absolutely the right choice. But even if I hadn’t been successful, it would still have been the right thing to do, because the added confidence I now hold in going into interviews will be a benefit that lasts.

I am so grateful to Elizabeth for helping me to get my dream job in the civil service. I had thought that I just wasn’t very good at interviews, but Elizabeth gave me the confidence and skills to excel in an interview setting. She provided advice for how to answer both competency and strength-based questions, she helped me to select my best examples, and she gave me honest feedback while also building up my confidence. It was amazing how much she was able to squeeze into a session, which she recorded so I could reference later. My sessions with Elizabeth were expensive, but it was honestly the best money I spent all year. I will undoubtedly go back to Elizabeth the next time I’m preparing for a job interview, and I would highly recommend Interview Skills Clinic to anyone looking to advance their career.

One of my best decisions was to contact Interview Skills Clinic. Elizabeth was such a great help. The advice she gave me in focusing my experience to the Civil Service was invaluable. The work she did beforehand really made our sessions constructive from the start. Reviewing my responses helped me memorise the important aspects for the interview and, yes, I was successful. Elizabeth gave me the edge to feel confident and control my nerves on the day.

Confidence and career change reviews
I struggled in interviews for over a year and after being unsuccessful in over 20 interviews, I decided to give interview coaching a go. I found Elizabeth incredibly helpful. She was able to highlight the challenges I was facing and provide really useful suggestions on how to make improvements. I had two sessions with Elizabeth and I’m pleased to say that the second interview I went for after working with her. I was offered a position. If you’re hesitant about the fee, I understand, but it really is a good investment in yourself. I even recommended Elizabeth’s coaching to my husband and after one meeting, he got a job offer the very next interview he went for.

After resigning from a job in difficult circumstances, I got lots of interviews, but no offer. My anxiety and worry about being perceived as unreliable probably showed in the interviews and held me back. I saw Elizabeth hoping to understand what I was doing wrong and found the session extremely helpful. I was offered a job after the next interview. Elizabeth’s advice made all the difference to my preparation and self-perception. I recommended her to my partner, who was also offered the next job she interviewed for after seeing Elizabeth, having also had several interviews before with no offer. I would definitely recommend Elizabeth’s services, which have made a huge difference to us.

I’ve never been very good at traditional interviews, as I find the pressured set-up of question-immediate-answer does not work well with my brain. I prepare really well and research deeply, but I often end up doubting every word I’m saying. In our first coaching session, I felt awful. I couldn’t answer the questions properly, ended up rambling and there might even have been tears. But Elizabeth was so patient and professional, as well as humanly kind. She helped me understand what the interviewer is really looking for, not just the way the question is phrased. At the same time, I had another interview for a completely different role, and everything I had learned with Elizabeth just sat comfortably in my mind. I can honestly say I excelled, and I got the job after two more stages. The recordings afterwards were extremely awkward to watch, but ultimately a great tool for development. If you think you’re rubbish at interviews, invest in yourself here.

Elizabeth coached me for a civil service interview which i was successful at. The insights she provided on the process, advice on properly structuring answers and tips on how best to physically present myself were invaluable.
Thanks Graeme. I was really pleased to see your high scores both on the Behaviours and Strengths questions. You really gave this interview 100% and clearly stood out from the competition. Well done!
Fantastic service offering great insight. My coach was encouraging, knowledgable and I feel much more confident as a result.
Hi Casey, a great result from our coaching sessions together. I know that you needed more confidence at handling the competency questions, and clearly you ‘nailed’ these. Well done. Thanks for the taking the time to write a review.
Definitely a real benefit, letting you see where improvements can be made even after the first session. Well worth it.
Hi Hamish, you put yourself through an assessment interview coaching session with me which is a tough session, normally I only recommend this for senior clients. We all know that getting the balance between promoting yourself and being yourself is challenging when you’re looking for a job. You took it all on board and got the success you deserved, well done. Enjoy the new challenge.
Elizabeth advised me while I was preparing a competency-based application for promotion to G6 in the Civil Service. This followed a long, frustrating and confidence-sapping period of unsuccessful applications where I failed to gain any interviews. I knew I was performing at the right level, but was struggling with understanding how to present this in applications as I was receiving minimal feedback.
I had several sessions with Elizabeth on my written competency examples for a specific job and she was just great to work with. She has real expertise and in-depth understanding of how the recruitment process works and how to bring out the best in an application: her feedback and advice were genuinely insightful and made an enormous difference to my application. She was also brilliantly flexible, squeezing me in at short notice over a holiday period. In the end I scored highly on all my examples and was shortlisted for interview. I then did well enough at interview to be placed on a reserve list, from which I have just been substantively appointed to G6.
I feel really fortunate to have found and worked with Elizabeth – I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say I don’t think I would have had such a good result without her, and I very much hope I can work again with her when I am looking to make my next professional move. For anyone reading this who is wavering a bit on whether to go ahead with coaching, I would thoroughly recommend it, especially for Civil Service jobs – it’s a very worthwhile investment.
Thank you Jo. You did all the hard work. Sometimes it’s great to just have a second opinion. I was pleased to hear about your G6 promotion, much deserved.I hope we can work togeether again in the future.
I had an online coaching session on zoom with Elizabeth Conley and very pleased to share that I passed my interview with Civil Services. She arranged for the session at a short notice and helped me tailor my examples after a mock interview. She also emailed me the recording of our mock interview which helped me go over the feedback. I recommend Elizabeth as I feel she has a good understanding of the civil services interview process and gives honest and constructive feedback.
Hi Poonam, well done. The Civil Service interviews are particularly tough but you did well. I hope to work together again when you are going for your nex promotion.
I used interview skills clinic to prepare for an interview at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy which I’m delighted to say led to a job offer. I had an hour session with Elizabeth which helped me to really understand what the civil service behaviour profiles were looking for and how to ensure that my examples fully showed my skills and experience. Elizabeth clearly has a wealth of knowledge and experience as an interview coach. She has a very professional manner, providing constructive feedback whilst still making me feel confident in my skills and ability to get the role. Elizabeth genuinely cares about helping her clients get her dream roles and was happy to answer any questions after the session and checked in with to see how I’d got on. I was initially a bit hesitant to book a session with interview skills clinic due to cost. However, my session with Elizabeth was great value for money. I’m so glad that I invested in myself and booked the session with Elizabeth. Overall, I would highly recommend interview skills clinic.
Thanks Mollie for your feedback. I am delighted that you got the success you deserve. It’s valuable to get your initial thoughts on our fees. Understandably, cost is an important factor but we know that interview coaching can only work when it is bespoke and this takes us lots of preparation time. I am pleased the investment paid off. Enjoy the new role and challenge.
Having reached the final stage of various internship application processes in the past but failing to succeed at the final interview stage, I booked a few sessions with Elizabeth to help me prepare for an interview at the Bank of England. Elizabeth was the perfect interview coach- supportive, insightful and most importantly, honest about areas of potential weakness whilst offering thoughtful tips to improve. I am delighted to have been successful in my internship application and am very grateful to Elizabeth, whom I could not have done it without. I would strongly advise anyone who is considering getting some interview coaching to give it a try, you will not be disappointed. Elizabeth, with her wealth of experience, offers advice you won’t find online, takes a genuine interest in your career goals and instills the confidence and belief you need to succeed.
Hi Josh, I was very excited to hear of your success. It is tough for students and graduates at the moment and you did so well. I look forward to hearing about how you get on at the Bank of England.
Elizabeth was reccomended to me for interview practice after I found myself unemployed after 25 years working at the same company. The employment landscape had changed completely in that time. She completely turned around my mindset and helped me developed my technique and confidence, to such a point that I secured a role in a world-class company after just my second interview. The role was in a vastly different field that I had experience of, so even more daunting. I would thoroughly recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking to improve their interview technique.
Thanks Gurch, not surprisingly being unemployed knocks confidence but you had all the skills and experience to do well. I was pleased to help.
I was approached for a director level job at a multi national. I would not have got succeeded without Elizabeth’s help through multiple rounds of interviews – mostly on Zoom. Thank you!
Thanks Sara, I am glad I was able to help you get the success you deserved.
I had two sessions with Elizabeth a week apart and I can honestly say that it was the difference to me getting the G7 government job I applied for. Elizabeth made great use of the time we had together and gave me tailored feedback in a friendly, direct and supportive manner that helped me to truly engage with the behaviour and strengths questions. Elizabeth helped me to show my skills and experience off in the best light and demonstrate the added value I could bring to the role. My interview feedback was very positive and specifically mentioned how my interview performance demonstrated how i met the criteria for the job better than my written statement (n.b. i did not receive any coaching for the written statement!). If anyone is hesitating about the cost for coaching i would advise you to go for it as the coaching i have received has not only been an investment in my career but an investment in my personal development and i will definitely be using the service again when i am ready to move on to the next stage of my career!.
Thank you Ese, I was so pleased you did so well. Getting 6’s for the Behaviour questions was a great result and it looked you got 4 out of 4 for each of the Strength questiosn too! Well done. Keep in touch and let me know how you get on. 2021 looks like it’s going to be very exciting year for your career 🙂
