Interview coaching reviews
I sought Elizabeth’s help after repeatedly hitting a brick wall with my job hunting. I rarely got offered an interview and never got a job offer. I work in the public sector and found competency-based interviews to be a mystery. How do you apply the STAR technique without a photographic memory, and without sounding like a scripted robot. Elizabeth not only answered these questions but also took a critical look at my CV. I found the videos of our mock interviews hard and uncomfortable viewing, but they made it much easier to see and hear where I was going wrong. I highly recommend getting videoed, no matter how much it makes you cringe. Unlike interview books, and some coaches, that expect you to memorise ‘100 great answers’, Elizabeth takes a different and far more sensible approach. She teaches you what makes a great answer and how to formulate it easily, while also emphasising tone, body language and enthusiasm. Following our coaching session I went to my next interview feeling far better prepared and more relaxed. I was not only offered the job, but also offered a salary higher than advertised — without negotiation. I have seen a few interview coaches now; the only one I’ll be going back to is Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is an excellent coach with clear and insightful understanding of employer needs and candidate skills. I thoroughly recommend the Skills Clinic to scaffold, structure and massively sharpen up interview technique and quality of response.
This will give you more confidence as well as understanding of yourself and your skills. As a result of coaching from Elizabeth for three different roles, I have been successful in portraying myself in the most authentic and optimal way possible, securing three promotions thanks to this input. Thank you Elizabeth!

Elizabeth’s advice was quite simply brilliant. She provided extremely valuable insight into the responsibilities of the role I was interviewing for and how I could better represent my skills. I would recommend coaching to anyone who struggles to represent themselves well during the interview process. I have had three sessions with her over the last three or four years and each one has helped me take a jump forward in my career. I just secured a senior role after giving an apparently top-scoring interview. Thank you Elizabeth.

Career position and application coaching reviews
I can’t recommend Elizabeth highly enough for job application and interview coaching. Elizabeth has not just helped me to get three or four new jobs or promotions over a five-year period — she helped me, over this time, to completely transform my professional identity from one based on technical knowledge to one focused on wider leadership and strategy, while still retaining and building on my technical expertise. As part of this process, she helped me to develop an interview-ready narrative about the soft skills I already had, but didn’t always know how to craft into a good response to interview question.

I had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth during a key stage in my career, and I can’t recommend her coaching highly enough. She created a supportive, insightful space where I could reflect honestly and gain clarity on my goals and direction. Elizabeth has a remarkable ability to identify blind spots and gently challenge unhelpful patterns, which helped me grow both professionally and personally. Her guidance played a big part in helping me secure my new role, and I’m incredibly grateful for her expertise and encouragement. If you’re looking for someone who listens, understands and empowers you to move forward with confidence, Elizabeth is the coach you want in your corne.

Elizabeth strikes a really good balance between frank feedback and positive encouragement. She really helped me focus on the strategic importance and personal impact of my interview stories, and to deliver them clearly and crisply. I got the job. Public sector head of communications.

Civil Service interview coaching reviews
Elizabeth was recommended by a colleague and it was an excellent recommendation. Elizabeth really knows her stuff. She obviously has a lot of experience in dealing with Civil Service interviews of a variety of types and at a range of grades. Her knowledge and experience meant that I immediately trusted her judgement. She took time to understand where I felt I had gaps, but supplemented this with practice interview questions. It was obvious from her feedback that she was able to identify areas for development that I had previously not considered, but which immediately rang true. Her approach meant that I felt I was getting genuine interview practice, but with “in the moment” feedback and discussion, which was invaluable and beautifully delivered. Elizabeth was hugely supportive both within and outside of the sessions, which was genuinely confidence building. In the event, I was unexpectedly successful in my application. I recognised from the positive feedback some of the areas that we had worked on, which was gratifying. I had measurable confirmation that seeking her advice had been absolutely the right choice. But even if I hadn’t been successful, it would still have been the right thing to do, because the added confidence I now hold in going into interviews will be a benefit that lasts.

I am so grateful to Elizabeth for helping me to get my dream job in the civil service. I had thought that I just wasn’t very good at interviews, but Elizabeth gave me the confidence and skills to excel in an interview setting. She provided advice for how to answer both competency and strength-based questions, she helped me to select my best examples, and she gave me honest feedback while also building up my confidence. It was amazing how much she was able to squeeze into a session, which she recorded so I could reference later. My sessions with Elizabeth were expensive, but it was honestly the best money I spent all year. I will undoubtedly go back to Elizabeth the next time I’m preparing for a job interview, and I would highly recommend Interview Skills Clinic to anyone looking to advance their career.

One of my best decisions was to contact Interview Skills Clinic. Elizabeth was such a great help. The advice she gave me in focusing my experience to the Civil Service was invaluable. The work she did beforehand really made our sessions constructive from the start. Reviewing my responses helped me memorise the important aspects for the interview and, yes, I was successful. Elizabeth gave me the edge to feel confident and control my nerves on the day.

Confidence and career change reviews
I struggled in interviews for over a year and after being unsuccessful in over 20 interviews, I decided to give interview coaching a go. I found Elizabeth incredibly helpful. She was able to highlight the challenges I was facing and provide really useful suggestions on how to make improvements. I had two sessions with Elizabeth and I’m pleased to say that the second interview I went for after working with her. I was offered a position. If you’re hesitant about the fee, I understand, but it really is a good investment in yourself. I even recommended Elizabeth’s coaching to my husband and after one meeting, he got a job offer the very next interview he went for.

After resigning from a job in difficult circumstances, I got lots of interviews, but no offer. My anxiety and worry about being perceived as unreliable probably showed in the interviews and held me back. I saw Elizabeth hoping to understand what I was doing wrong and found the session extremely helpful. I was offered a job after the next interview. Elizabeth’s advice made all the difference to my preparation and self-perception. I recommended her to my partner, who was also offered the next job she interviewed for after seeing Elizabeth, having also had several interviews before with no offer. I would definitely recommend Elizabeth’s services, which have made a huge difference to us.

I’ve never been very good at traditional interviews, as I find the pressured set-up of question-immediate-answer does not work well with my brain. I prepare really well and research deeply, but I often end up doubting every word I’m saying. In our first coaching session, I felt awful. I couldn’t answer the questions properly, ended up rambling and there might even have been tears. But Elizabeth was so patient and professional, as well as humanly kind. She helped me understand what the interviewer is really looking for, not just the way the question is phrased. At the same time, I had another interview for a completely different role, and everything I had learned with Elizabeth just sat comfortably in my mind. I can honestly say I excelled, and I got the job after two more stages. The recordings afterwards were extremely awkward to watch, but ultimately a great tool for development. If you think you’re rubbish at interviews, invest in yourself here.

I cannot recommend Elizabeth enough! I’ve had sessions with her for two different civil service jobs (HEO and SEO) and was successful both times. Elizabeth’s approach to answering behavioural questions made all of the difference I think – I was equipped with a new way of answering these difficult questions, and the feedback from the interviewer was that my responses were perfectly structured. Elizabeth also gave excellent feedback, and sent a lovely message of encouragement the morning of my interview! 100 per cent cannot recommend enough, and I’ll definitely be speaking to Elizabeth again when the need to apply for a future role arises.
Daragh, thank you what a lovely review. It makes coaching really worthwhile. Enjoy the new challenge and hopefully we’ll work together again when you apply for your next promotion. Enjoy your celebrations.
I contacted Elizabeth just 2 days before my interview. I had time for just one session, however her advice and tips helped me to secure the role.
Hi Alex, It was all a bit last minute but you ‘pulled it off’ which is fantastic, well done. It just shows that it’s not about how long you prepare for an interview but how you prepare. Enjoy the new role and I hope you work together again.
I had two sessions with Elizabeth for a role in the public sector. Elizabeth is just fantastic, she gets straight to the point and always adds value to answers. She helped me really understand how to approach any question effectively, both competency- and strengths-based questions, and to draw out important elements from my examples. I got the job! Well worth the investment and I’d recommend to anyone.
Thank you Caroline, I was pleased to help and enjoyed working together. It’s great to have a new role and challenge for 2021.
I was introduced to this service by a friend after several interviews at senior level ended with “you were great but…” I had three sessions with Elizabeth, who is absolutely amazing. She is kind but very direct and truthful about how you come across. With her encouragement, I began to see areas where I needed improvement and we worked on my self confidence as well as how I presented myself to potential interview panels. My sessions were recorded so I could go over them and note areas needing more work. I got the job I interviewed following my sessions and couldn’t be happier. I strongly recommend this service
Thank you Beryl, you had excellent skills and experience for the role, they were lucky to have you! You just need a little support to direct your preparation and boost your confidence.
had two interview coaching sessions with Elizabeth Conley from Interview Skills Clinic in preparation for a job interview with the Civil Service for a policy professional role. She was immensely helpful in terms of advising me how best to structure answers to possible questions. We discussed appropriate examples from my experience to use when responding and she helped build my confidence about answering behaviour and strength based questions. I was successful in the interview and have since been offered a position within the Scottish Government. I highly recommend this service and believe it helped me clinch the job.
Thanks Zoe, you had some great experience and skills to draw on and I was pleased to be able to help. Sometimes just understanding what the interviewers are looking for can make all the difference. Enjoy the challenges ahead and I hope to work together in the future.
I was interviewing for a senior role within the NHS and the team at the Interview Clinic were highly recommended. I was out of practice and and had not been in a competency based interview for some time. I sent Elizabeth the job spec and she then helped me to draw out my experiences in a way that was tailored to the specific role. She re-built my confidence through mock interviews and with her support I was able to succeed and get the job. The team at the Clinic showed high levels of professionalism but I was most impressed by their genuine desire to help me by fitting my sessions in at very short notice. I highly recommend the services provided and have already recommended the Interview Clinic to colleagues.
Hi Zahid, thank you for your review and recommendation. It’s tough making a move across to the NHS from the private sector at leadership levels; you did exceptionally well to achieve this. You have substantial experience and will be able to bring your expertise, ideas and new ways of working to the NHS. I am sure you’ll love the role.
Elizabeth was a fantastic support in preparing me for a recent interview. She provided a useful framework – helping me to focus on the value I would bring to the post I was applying for – and how I should shape my answers. Elizabeth also prepared interview questions, based on the JD, and interviewed me – giving me tips as we went through. This really helped me in alleviating my anxiety and nerves. Thank you Xx
Hi Lydia, you had excellent experience for the role and just need to believe in yourself a little more. This promotion is much deserved and I hope it builds your confidence. Enjoy the new challenges.
Elizabeth is an outstanding interview skills coach and very knowledgeable about roles in the Civil Service. She made time for me at short notice and worked with me to prepare for an interview with the Cabinet Office. She helped me to draw out exactly what was needed in terms of the strengths and behaviour questions for the interview. She listened and gave me honest feedback to my answers and suggestions as to how I could make them better. I left the coaching session feeling confident and clear on how to effectively approach the questions. Elizabeth’s style is clear, direct, professional and positively challenging. It was also great fun working with her! She added personal touches, like messaging me just before the interview, which she didn’t need to do. I was successful and got the role! I can’t recommend Elizabeth and her team highly enough and would love to work with her again one day. Many thanks to Elizabeth.
Thank you Naomi, you had excellent skills and experience for the role so it’s no surprise to me that you did so well. You just needed a little insight into how they were assessing you. I am sure you’ll enjoy the new challenge ahead.
Elizabeth undoubtedly helped me secure a new job after 18 months of interviews and never quite getting there. She helped me see how to elevate the way I was describing how my skills and experience would be beneficial to a future employer and I am honestly delighted that just a 90 minute session resulted in me getting a job offer in a company I’ve long admired. Very much recommend and I’ll consider a ‘top up’ should I be looking for jobs again in the future!! Thank you so much again Elizabeth!
Hi Catherine, thank you. You have excellent skills and experience and just needed encouragement to promote yourself! It makes all the difference in an interview. I am certain you were the strongest candidate and you deserve the success. Enjoy the role.
Elizabeth is an excellent interview skills coach who was invaluable in helping me secure a role. Our session was informative and constructive; she had unique insight into what the employer was looking for and helped me tailor my answers and examples to draw out strengths and appeal to the specific role criteria. She provided constructive and valuable feedback at all stages, whilst also helping to boost confidence in my ability. I would highly recommended!
Hi Isobel, many thanks. You did amazingly well with one session and I am sure you’ll love the role, it will steer your career in a completely new direction giving you lots of opportunities for further training and promotion 🙂
