Interview coaching reviews

I sought Elizabeth’s help after repeatedly hitting a brick wall with my job hunting. I rarely got offered an interview and never got a job offer. I work in the public sector and found competency-based interviews to be a mystery. How do you apply the STAR technique without a photographic memory, and without sounding like a scripted robot. Elizabeth not only answered these questions but also took a critical look at my CV. I found the videos of our mock interviews hard and uncomfortable viewing, but they made it much easier to see and hear where I was going wrong. I highly recommend getting videoed, no matter how much it makes you cringe. Unlike interview books, and some coaches, that expect you to memorise ‘100 great answers’, Elizabeth takes a different and far more sensible approach. She teaches you what makes a great answer and how to formulate it easily, while also emphasising tone, body language and enthusiasm. Following our coaching session I went to my next interview feeling far better prepared and more relaxed. I was not only offered the job, but also offered a salary higher than advertised — without negotiation. I have seen a few interview coaches now; the only one I’ll be going back to is Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is an excellent coach with clear and insightful understanding of employer needs and candidate skills. I thoroughly recommend the Skills Clinic to scaffold, structure and massively sharpen up interview technique and quality of response.
This will give you more confidence as well as understanding of yourself and your skills. As a result of coaching from Elizabeth for three different roles, I have been successful in portraying myself in the most authentic and optimal way possible, securing three promotions thanks to this input. Thank you Elizabeth!

Elizabeth’s advice was quite simply brilliant. She provided extremely valuable insight into the responsibilities of the role I was interviewing for and how I could better represent my skills. I would recommend coaching to anyone who struggles to represent themselves well during the interview process. I have had three sessions with her over the last three or four years and each one has helped me take a jump forward in my career. I just secured a senior role after giving an apparently top-scoring interview. Thank you Elizabeth.

Career position and application coaching reviews

I can’t recommend Elizabeth highly enough for job application and interview coaching. Elizabeth has not just helped me to get three or four new jobs or promotions over a five-year period — she helped me, over this time, to completely transform my professional identity from one based on technical knowledge to one focused on wider leadership and strategy, while still retaining and building on my technical expertise. As part of this process, she helped me to develop an interview-ready narrative about the soft skills I already had, but didn’t always know how to craft into a good response to interview question.

I had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth during a key stage in my career, and I can’t recommend her coaching highly enough. She created a supportive, insightful space where I could reflect honestly and gain clarity on my goals and direction. Elizabeth has a remarkable ability to identify blind spots and gently challenge unhelpful patterns, which helped me grow both professionally and personally. Her guidance played a big part in helping me secure my new role, and I’m incredibly grateful for her expertise and encouragement. If you’re looking for someone who listens, understands and empowers you to move forward with confidence, Elizabeth is the coach you want in your corne.

Elizabeth strikes a really good balance between frank feedback and positive encouragement. She really helped me focus on the strategic importance and personal impact of my interview stories, and to deliver them clearly and crisply. I got the job. Public sector head of communications.

Civil Service interview coaching reviews

Elizabeth was recommended by a colleague and it was an excellent recommendation. Elizabeth really knows her stuff. She obviously has a lot of experience in dealing with Civil Service interviews of a variety of types and at a range of grades. Her knowledge and experience meant that I immediately trusted her judgement. She took time to understand where I felt I had gaps, but supplemented this with practice interview questions. It was obvious from her feedback that she was able to identify areas for development that I had previously not considered, but which immediately rang true. Her approach meant that I felt I was getting genuine interview practice, but with “in the moment” feedback and discussion, which was invaluable and beautifully delivered. Elizabeth was hugely supportive both within and outside of the sessions, which was genuinely confidence building. In the event, I was unexpectedly successful in my application. I recognised from the positive feedback some of the areas that we had worked on, which was gratifying. I had measurable confirmation that seeking her advice had been absolutely the right choice. But even if I hadn’t been successful, it would still have been the right thing to do, because the added confidence I now hold in going into interviews will be a benefit that lasts.

I am so grateful to Elizabeth for helping me to get my dream job in the civil service. I had thought that I just wasn’t very good at interviews, but Elizabeth gave me the confidence and skills to excel in an interview setting. She provided advice for how to answer both competency and strength-based questions, she helped me to select my best examples, and she gave me honest feedback while also building up my confidence. It was amazing how much she was able to squeeze into a session, which she recorded so I could reference later. My sessions with Elizabeth were expensive, but it was honestly the best money I spent all year. I will undoubtedly go back to Elizabeth the next time I’m preparing for a job interview, and I would highly recommend Interview Skills Clinic to anyone looking to advance their career.

One of my best decisions was to contact Interview Skills Clinic. Elizabeth was such a great help. The advice she gave me in focusing my experience to the Civil Service was invaluable. The work she did beforehand really made our sessions constructive from the start. Reviewing my responses helped me memorise the important aspects for the interview and, yes, I was successful. Elizabeth gave me the edge to feel confident and control my nerves on the day.

Confidence and career change reviews

I struggled in interviews for over a year and after being unsuccessful in over 20 interviews, I decided to give interview coaching a go. I found Elizabeth incredibly helpful. She was able to highlight the challenges I was facing and provide really useful suggestions on how to make improvements. I had two sessions with Elizabeth and I’m pleased to say that the second interview I went for after working with her. I was offered a position. If you’re hesitant about the fee, I understand, but it really is a good investment in yourself. I even recommended Elizabeth’s coaching to my husband and after one meeting, he got a job offer the very next interview he went for.

Client – RW

After resigning from a job in difficult circumstances, I got lots of interviews, but no offer. My anxiety and worry about being perceived as unreliable probably showed in the interviews and held me back. I saw Elizabeth hoping to understand what I was doing wrong and found the session extremely helpful. I was offered a job after the next interview. Elizabeth’s advice made all the difference to my preparation and self-perception. I recommended her to my partner, who was also offered the next job she interviewed for after seeing Elizabeth, having also had several interviews before with no offer. I would definitely recommend Elizabeth’s services, which have made a huge difference to us.

Client – Tim

I’ve never been very good at traditional interviews, as I find the pressured set-up of question-immediate-answer does not work well with my brain. I prepare really well and research deeply, but I often end up doubting every word I’m saying. In our first coaching session, I felt awful. I couldn’t answer the questions properly, ended up rambling and there might even have been tears. But Elizabeth was so patient and professional, as well as humanly kind. She helped me understand what the interviewer is really looking for, not just the way the question is phrased. At the same time, I had another interview for a completely different role, and everything I had learned with Elizabeth just sat comfortably in my mind. I can honestly say I excelled, and I got the job after two more stages. The recordings afterwards were extremely awkward to watch, but ultimately a great tool for development. If you think you’re rubbish at interviews, invest in yourself here.

Hi Josy, what can I say. I am glad you found our Youtube channel and that I was able to help you in time for your interview. Often just understanding what the Behaviours really mean and how you are being assessed can make a big difference in a Civil Service interview. I hope I will be able to help you again when you are looking for promotion.

I had no idea that there were interview coaches before my meetings with Elizabeth. I am so thankful I was referred to her. She cut straight to the chase and with limited time helped me get the job I wanted. I look forward to working with her in the future in any way, shape or form.

Thanks Dexter, well done. Remember you found me a bit scary! But it was worth it because you are now starting a new career. With interview coaching we have such a limited time to help a client get the job that sometimes we have be quite directive . You took all the feedback on board and prepared brilliantly. I look forward to working together in the future. Elizabeth 🙂

I can’t recommend Elizabeth enough. I have worked with her over the last few years each time getting promotion. I recently succeeded in a challenge G7 legal role and I am sure I wouldn’t have been successful without Elizabeth’s help and support. She truly understands what is needed to succeed. She gives honest feedback in a supportive way and each time, I have always known what I need to change to improve. I went into the interview feeling so much more prepared and confident. HIghly recommend coaching with Elizabeth

Elizabeth, thanks for all your help with the job interview. I did the interview and 30 mins afterwards the hiring manager called and offered me the job. Hurrah! I started the role yesterday and today one of the others on the panel said to me how great my interview was. He wished he could have recorded it to show others how to do the perfect interview! He said my presentation was brilliant and that he scored me a 7 on some of the answers. When it finished, he turned to the hiring manager and said “you’ve got your chief of staff” and that I was head and shoulders above anyone else. I knew the interview had gone well when I signed off and I’m delighted the panel thought so too. When I’m applying for jobs in 2 years’ time, I will be calling you before any interviews!

Hi Liz, This is super news well done! It sounds like you completely wowed them! It is very difficult to get a 7 for any answers. You must be completely chuffed and your success is much deserved. I hope you enjoy the new challenge and I look forward to working together in the future. Elizabeth

Elizabeth’s coaching for my role in strategic communications was invaluable and I am delighted to say I got the job a the second place I interviewed and I was put on reserve after my first interview. I couldn’t have done it without her support, feedback and the opportunity to practice, practice and practice. In the past I have tended to talk for too long and in too much detail but this time I was able to get the balance right and be more strategic in more answers. Thank you again for your help.

Hi Rachel, you had great experience to draw on and just needed a little help to make yourself the centre of each example to support the questions. It is difficult with complex examples to know when to dive down into the detail and when to step back but you clearly did this brilliantly. Well done and good luck with the new role.

Elizabeth provided tremendous advice and coaching. It wouldn’t have been possible for me to move from a financial and private sector background to the Civil Service without her help and support. Initially I made it through to the reserve pool and then received an offer for a similar role as they were waiting for someone is the team to resign. Interviews in the Civil Service are very different to corporate investment interviews and without Elizabeth’s insight and support I wouldn’t have succeeded in making this career move. It was worth every penny.

Hi Alvin, it was a rather long and protracted recruitment process but I am delighted that you got there in the end. You had very unique skills to offer the Civil Service and the Interview panel could clearly see this. I am so pleased that they were able to find a role or you, even if you had to wait a while to receive the offer. Good luck with the new role and challenge.

Elizabeth helped me prepare for an interview on promotion having not interviewed for a number of years. Her support was absolutely enlightening and completely changed the way I thought about interviewing for that step up. Her advice and guidance for my Civil Service interview was so helpful, and I would definitely look to use the services again should I go for a further promotion later in my career as it was worth every penny and more.

I was nervous attending my first session at the Interview skills clinic but Elizabeth made me feel relaxed and confident.
I work in a special school and was applying for a headship, I was struggling with giving in-depth responses to my answers. Elizabeth worked with me to support how I broke down the question to respond.
At interview I felt confident and clear in the way I was going to answer the question and the panel feedback from my interview was really positive and I will be taking up my first headship in September. I really enjoyed the session and will use Elizabeth again.

I found the Interview Skills Clinic a few weeks before my first two Civil Service interviews. As a recent graduate and someone new the the civil service interview style, I felt I needed some guidance. I was coached by Elizabeth and in just three sessions my confidence and understanding around the nature of Civil Service Interviews was exponentially improved. Elizabeth mocked interviews with me, helped me to technically improve my answers by providing me with tailored improvements to the examples I was using in my answers, and overall elevated my communication style. I was offered the job for one role, and placed on the reserve list for the other, so cannot thank and recommend Elizabeth and the Interview Skills Clinic enough!

I had 2 sessions with Elizabeth where she gave me a great understanding on how to answer interview questions with structure and gave me the confidence to be able to do perform much better in interviews, as this was something I was really lacking. Straight after these sessions I managed to secure a great role which I probably wouldn’t have had the confidence to even go for without her help. The sessions were a real investment in myself and my future and I am so glad I did it. Thank you Elizabeth!
