Interview coaching reviews
I sought Elizabeth’s help after repeatedly hitting a brick wall with my job hunting. I rarely got offered an interview and never got a job offer. I work in the public sector and found competency-based interviews to be a mystery. How do you apply the STAR technique without a photographic memory, and without sounding like a scripted robot. Elizabeth not only answered these questions but also took a critical look at my CV. I found the videos of our mock interviews hard and uncomfortable viewing, but they made it much easier to see and hear where I was going wrong. I highly recommend getting videoed, no matter how much it makes you cringe. Unlike interview books, and some coaches, that expect you to memorise ‘100 great answers’, Elizabeth takes a different and far more sensible approach. She teaches you what makes a great answer and how to formulate it easily, while also emphasising tone, body language and enthusiasm. Following our coaching session I went to my next interview feeling far better prepared and more relaxed. I was not only offered the job, but also offered a salary higher than advertised — without negotiation. I have seen a few interview coaches now; the only one I’ll be going back to is Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is an excellent coach with clear and insightful understanding of employer needs and candidate skills. I thoroughly recommend the Skills Clinic to scaffold, structure and massively sharpen up interview technique and quality of response.
This will give you more confidence as well as understanding of yourself and your skills. As a result of coaching from Elizabeth for three different roles, I have been successful in portraying myself in the most authentic and optimal way possible, securing three promotions thanks to this input. Thank you Elizabeth!

Elizabeth’s advice was quite simply brilliant. She provided extremely valuable insight into the responsibilities of the role I was interviewing for and how I could better represent my skills. I would recommend coaching to anyone who struggles to represent themselves well during the interview process. I have had three sessions with her over the last three or four years and each one has helped me take a jump forward in my career. I just secured a senior role after giving an apparently top-scoring interview. Thank you Elizabeth.

Career position and application coaching reviews
I can’t recommend Elizabeth highly enough for job application and interview coaching. Elizabeth has not just helped me to get three or four new jobs or promotions over a five-year period — she helped me, over this time, to completely transform my professional identity from one based on technical knowledge to one focused on wider leadership and strategy, while still retaining and building on my technical expertise. As part of this process, she helped me to develop an interview-ready narrative about the soft skills I already had, but didn’t always know how to craft into a good response to interview question.

I had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth during a key stage in my career, and I can’t recommend her coaching highly enough. She created a supportive, insightful space where I could reflect honestly and gain clarity on my goals and direction. Elizabeth has a remarkable ability to identify blind spots and gently challenge unhelpful patterns, which helped me grow both professionally and personally. Her guidance played a big part in helping me secure my new role, and I’m incredibly grateful for her expertise and encouragement. If you’re looking for someone who listens, understands and empowers you to move forward with confidence, Elizabeth is the coach you want in your corne.

Elizabeth strikes a really good balance between frank feedback and positive encouragement. She really helped me focus on the strategic importance and personal impact of my interview stories, and to deliver them clearly and crisply. I got the job. Public sector head of communications.

Civil Service interview coaching reviews
Elizabeth was recommended by a colleague and it was an excellent recommendation. Elizabeth really knows her stuff. She obviously has a lot of experience in dealing with Civil Service interviews of a variety of types and at a range of grades. Her knowledge and experience meant that I immediately trusted her judgement. She took time to understand where I felt I had gaps, but supplemented this with practice interview questions. It was obvious from her feedback that she was able to identify areas for development that I had previously not considered, but which immediately rang true. Her approach meant that I felt I was getting genuine interview practice, but with “in the moment” feedback and discussion, which was invaluable and beautifully delivered. Elizabeth was hugely supportive both within and outside of the sessions, which was genuinely confidence building. In the event, I was unexpectedly successful in my application. I recognised from the positive feedback some of the areas that we had worked on, which was gratifying. I had measurable confirmation that seeking her advice had been absolutely the right choice. But even if I hadn’t been successful, it would still have been the right thing to do, because the added confidence I now hold in going into interviews will be a benefit that lasts.

I am so grateful to Elizabeth for helping me to get my dream job in the civil service. I had thought that I just wasn’t very good at interviews, but Elizabeth gave me the confidence and skills to excel in an interview setting. She provided advice for how to answer both competency and strength-based questions, she helped me to select my best examples, and she gave me honest feedback while also building up my confidence. It was amazing how much she was able to squeeze into a session, which she recorded so I could reference later. My sessions with Elizabeth were expensive, but it was honestly the best money I spent all year. I will undoubtedly go back to Elizabeth the next time I’m preparing for a job interview, and I would highly recommend Interview Skills Clinic to anyone looking to advance their career.

One of my best decisions was to contact Interview Skills Clinic. Elizabeth was such a great help. The advice she gave me in focusing my experience to the Civil Service was invaluable. The work she did beforehand really made our sessions constructive from the start. Reviewing my responses helped me memorise the important aspects for the interview and, yes, I was successful. Elizabeth gave me the edge to feel confident and control my nerves on the day.

Confidence and career change reviews
I struggled in interviews for over a year and after being unsuccessful in over 20 interviews, I decided to give interview coaching a go. I found Elizabeth incredibly helpful. She was able to highlight the challenges I was facing and provide really useful suggestions on how to make improvements. I had two sessions with Elizabeth and I’m pleased to say that the second interview I went for after working with her. I was offered a position. If you’re hesitant about the fee, I understand, but it really is a good investment in yourself. I even recommended Elizabeth’s coaching to my husband and after one meeting, he got a job offer the very next interview he went for.

After resigning from a job in difficult circumstances, I got lots of interviews, but no offer. My anxiety and worry about being perceived as unreliable probably showed in the interviews and held me back. I saw Elizabeth hoping to understand what I was doing wrong and found the session extremely helpful. I was offered a job after the next interview. Elizabeth’s advice made all the difference to my preparation and self-perception. I recommended her to my partner, who was also offered the next job she interviewed for after seeing Elizabeth, having also had several interviews before with no offer. I would definitely recommend Elizabeth’s services, which have made a huge difference to us.

I’ve never been very good at traditional interviews, as I find the pressured set-up of question-immediate-answer does not work well with my brain. I prepare really well and research deeply, but I often end up doubting every word I’m saying. In our first coaching session, I felt awful. I couldn’t answer the questions properly, ended up rambling and there might even have been tears. But Elizabeth was so patient and professional, as well as humanly kind. She helped me understand what the interviewer is really looking for, not just the way the question is phrased. At the same time, I had another interview for a completely different role, and everything I had learned with Elizabeth just sat comfortably in my mind. I can honestly say I excelled, and I got the job after two more stages. The recordings afterwards were extremely awkward to watch, but ultimately a great tool for development. If you think you’re rubbish at interviews, invest in yourself here.

Before I had a session with Elizabeth, I was unsure as to how I should approach a forthcoming assessment centre for a place on the graduate scheme of a Big Four accounting firm. I had a tendency to lose track of what I wanted to say, and I wasn’t sure which experiences best demonstrated the key values of the firm. However, with her insightful suggestions and deep understanding of both 1-on-1 interview and group exercise techniques, I felt assured and confident in my approach to preparation. As a result of her coaching, I had a clear strategy going into the AC, and was offered a position on my first attempt. I would wholeheartedly recommend Elizabeth to anyone seeking to hone their interview technique, build real confidence and bring out their full potential in the interview process.
Thanks Mark, However competitive or difficult the assessment day are most organisations are looking for candidates who can work well in a team and someone they like. You worked hard to overcome your nerves and tried hard to make good eye contact and build rapport in the group exercise and in the interview. It clearly worked and you now have a great start to your career.
I would highly recommend investing in Elizabeth’s services if you are applying in a competitive application process such as the civil service. Having had one previous interview which I did not pass, I decided that it would be a worthy investment to better understand a competency based interview. Following an interview coaching session, on the next interview I managed to make improvements, enough to get me on to a reserve list at least. In time with the help of Elizabeth I managed to get on to a few more reserve lists until finally passing an interview with an offer. Her guidance is extremely helpful especially if you are coming from outside the civil service as she is able to provide direction and clarity on where to focus. This was important to me in order to remain positive and persistent in the applications. Thanks Elizabeth for your help!
Hi Sam, You passed the competency so many times but getting the highest mark to be offered took longer than we both wanted. Your tenacity and determination to improve each time paid off. Now you are in the civil service I am sure you’ll be applying for promotion again in the not too distant future. For now, enjoy having no applications to fill in or interviews to go to. Enjoy the role.
Elizabeth’s insightful questioning and industry awareness has ensured my success in securing two positions that were important to me. Elizabeth’s ability to clearly decipher what organisations are looking for from the job description/ specification is helpful and the coaching/ questioning style used is thorough yet supportive. For me this approach works in building confidence and clarity and was a significant factor in my success.. Thank you Elizabeth.
I highly recommend Elizabeth’s interview skills coaching and I plan to use her again in the future. Elizabeth was pleasant and generous with her practical advice and feedback throughout my 90 minute skype coaching session. I decided to make the investment after failing numerous Civil Service Grade 7 interviews. Elizabeth understood and shared what the interviewers are looking for at that level. Thanks to Elizabeth’s coaching, I passed my interview and landed a G7 job within 2 months.
Hi Jackie, you did amazingly well with just one coaching session as it can be a challenging interview moving up to a G7. I hope to work together again.
Elizabeth was extremely helpful in my preparation for a graduate interview. She had an extensive knowledge on both strengths and competency based interviews and was able to effectively articulate examples to aid my own understanding of them. Additionally, she was able to quickly and effectively delve in to my own personal strengths and weaknesses in and interview environment and help me improve my technique. I highly recommend Elizabeth for anyone else who is in need of advice when it comes to interviews.
Thanks Harshal, you worked hard to prepare for the interview and deserve the opportunity. It’s a fantastic start to your career.
Elizabeth’s insight really helped me come to understand the new civil service approach after having left for the private sector. Her advise ensured that I was able to communicate my examples in a way that maximised the scorers I achieved. This resulted in my examples being concise and allowed me to remain adaptable to respond to the additional questions that now form part of the new approach.
Hi Mustafa, you did fantastically well after just one coaching session particularly coming from the private sector. I was really impressed. I hope to see you when you’re applying for your next promotion!
I looked Elizabeth up after being unsuccessful with many applications for promotion. I had attended a few interviews but found my main problem to be not hitting the mark in the competency sifts.
I was becoming quite frustrated knowing I had plenty of work experiences at the required level which wasn’t leading to interviews. Elizabeth spent time going through my applications and explained where I was falling down, and what I needed to do sell myself effectively and concisely.
Following some important feedback sessions, and feeling like something had finally clicked, I was invited to interview on my first application. I was able to give a confident interview using my deeper understanding of what was required by the competency framework – a first in a long time! I highly recommend Elizabeth to anyone experiencing similar issues.
Hi Sam, I am glad I was able to help. It can be very frustrating not knowing why an application isn’t succeeding but once you get the feedback it is so much easier to make the changes and get sifted to interview. Thanks for taking the time to write a review.
After 9 months of unsuccesful job hunting I made an appointment with Elizabeth. I had 2 upcoming interviews in arts related roles which she helped me prepare for. She helped build my confidence and focus on areas I needed to build on, including my ability to sell myself! To my delight I was offered both jobs which proves Elizabeth’s coaching WORKS! 🙂
Hi Fiona, I am not surprised as all that you did so well. You communicate warmly and articulately. You just needed a confidence boost and help at getting more depth into your answers. Enjoy the roles and I hope to work together again.
After many unsuccessful interviews with feedback that was either “you gave a good interview, but we hired someone with more practical experience”, or “we liked you, but we gave the job to someone who gave more rounded answers”, I decided to get some professional help. Elizabeth was very welcoming and immediately helped me feel at ease. We discussed in detail the posts I hoped to apply for and also my background. My main problems were not selling myself, and also not giving enough depth to my answers. We practiced a few questions that were guaranteed to come up in my interviews. Elizabeth also gave me advice on how to structure my answers and also sell my abilities and past experiences without making me uncomfortable. I was planning on meeting up with Elizabeth for another session, but attended an interview at short notice. I immediately felt more confident and in control while answering the questions, and for the first time actually enjoying the interview. I was offered the job later that same day, and like one of the other reviewers’ mentioned they told me that I was a standout candidate. I am very grateful for Elizabeth’s advice, guidance and encouragement at a time when I felt doubtful about being able to get the job I wanted.
Hi Lenah, you trusted me and started to promote yourself with some in-depth stories and it immediately made a difference. Well done, I know it felt very uncomfortable and takes a lot of preparation time. Enjoy the new role and hope we can work together in a few years.
I contacted Elizabeth for help with crippling interview nerves. I’d worked in senior positions in an international company for over 12 years, and wanted to change sector. My anxiety was so great that in my first session with Elizabeth I actually had a panic attack. Mortifying! I was quite certain that neither she – nor anyone else – would ever be able to get me past something which was a huge point of embarrassment for me. I felt quite desperate, having resigned from a successful career to allow myself space to decide on what I wanted to do next. Imagine the pressure on me when I then found myself fluffing even informal chats on the phone with potential interviewers through crippling nerves. To compound this, not a single person I knew would believe that ‘someone like me’ would ever have interview issues, as I’m a strong communicator. But I really, really did. Elizabeth tackled this sensitively, practically and ultimately successfully. She helped me to approach interviews in a completely different way, finding a new mind-set, and I secured the first role I applied for in my new sector a couple of months ago. This took several sessions, but were genuinely one of the best investments in my personal development that I have made. I’m eternally grateful. Thank you Elizabeth!
Hi Jo, it was great to see your interview confidence grow, once you changed career direction you started to see the roles as opportunities rather than a hurdle to get over. You’ve are a strong communicator and I am sure will do well in the new role.
